West Midlands Orienteering Association

The West Midlands Orienteering Association (WMOA) is the regional association of orienteering clubs in the West Midlands, covering the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. The WMOA is affiliated to the British Orienteering Federation. Its origins were documented in a West Midlander article by Rod Postlethwaite.

The association organises various competitions between its member clubs and individuals, as well as co-ordinating fixtures to minimise date clashes both within the region, in neighbouring regions and nationally.

The WMOA also organises and provides financial support to a Junior Squad and runs training courses for members who wish to become event officials or upgrade their qualifications.

Major events such as the JK and the British Orienteering Championships rotate around the UK’s regions and are too large for any one club to organise.  The association provides coordination when it is the West Midlands’ turn to host them, and will provide links to the event web sites from here.

British Orienteering continues to update advice to clubs and participants to ensure Covid Safe Orienteering.

Whilst restrictions have been lifted, COVID is very much still in circulation and we urge a continued responsible approach to running events and coach sessions.
